The winter sun shone weakly on the frozen land below. The forest was coated in a blanket of snow, like something out of a fairytale. The snow was almost untouched, aside from the occational pawprints made by the smaller forest dwellers.
Among the foliage sat a young girl, the sun reflecting off her red hair. The furs she wore almost blended completely with the snow, except for the emrald accents around her neck, the same dark green as her eyes.
Crisscrossing all over the trail were paw prints, and mixed in among them a trail appearing to belong to a human. But this girl was no human. She was Ayame, granddaughter of one of the most respected elders in the Yourouzoku tribe.
She had traveled this way before, and now she was back for the same purpose. She needed to find her Fiance and bring him home. Unforuntaly, he claimed to be enaged to another, a mortal priestess, last time Ayame had seen him. As of now, she had still been unsucesful in teaching herself to sense jewl shards, but she still held on to the hope that he would keep his promise.
Ayame halted her pack of wolves a little ways up, next to a mountain creek. The water was fresh and cold, though Ayame did not drink. While her wolves rested, she took a seat on a rock, looking into the water and thinking.

Winter was necessarily Kouga’s favorite season, it wasn’t his least favorite either, he had a mutual feeling towards it. His eyes gazed over the valley before him, seeing nothing but white, white, and more white. With a slight scowl he went back to trudging up the side of the mountain, he liked it better when he could see the different colors of the forests.
Coming upon a large rock he sat down, deciding to take a few minutes and wait for the other two bumbling demons. With a sigh he sniffed the air, wondering if Kagome and the mutt were anywhere around, closing his eyes he breathed in deeper. A scent caught his attention, something familiar that he just couldn’t put his thumb on.
After opening his eyes and glancing around his area one last time he jumped from the rock and followed his nose. His feet digging into the deeper sections of snow as he tried to step lightly, brushing past the trees he growled lowly as snow and dirt fell on his head and stuck to his clothing.

OOC:*le gasp* Squee, you stole my title!
Ayame was sitting in a state of near meditation. Her mind was elsewhere, in the past. She was thinking back to that fateful night, the night of the lunar rainbow. I once in a lifetime expeariance, truly. If only Kouga could remember.
Then, suddenly, something joleted her out of her trance. A new scent. One she had not smelled in a very long time, yet one she would never forget. I knew it! I knew he'd come back for me! She jumped up from her rock, running in the direction of the scent. She sent a spray of snow and slush as she ran, unable to mask her excitment.
The wolves watched her for a minute, looking confused, before taking off after her.

Kouga stopped for a moment to wipe at some snow that had decided to collect on his clothing. For a few moments he scowled at his clothes and mumbled angrily under his breath, then after being completely satisfied it was all gone, he took one small step forwards and cringed at the sound of a branch breaking above him.
Needless to say Kouga stood in a still form as snow dripped from the top of his head. His eye twitched a few times before he jumped up and proceeded to shake himself like a normal wolfe would. Then he quickly walked into a clearing, where no branchs could surprise him and sniffed the air again.
The scent was still there and getting closer. But for some reason he just, couldn't, place... His eyes opened wider as he finally caught a good whiff of it. Oh no...

"KOUGA-KUN!" Ayame came dashing out of the trees, still sending a spray of snow out behind her. "I knew you would come looking for me! I knew it!" She then attempted to hug-tackle him. "So, have you finaly come to your senses and given up Kagome?" She couldn't help but grin-- this is what she had been waiting so long for. Still, she couldn't help but feel some dread in the pit of her stomach...What if he wasn't here for her? What if he had given up on Kagome but chosen another girl?
OOC: What if he really was a girl!? (Sorry, couldn't help myself)

OOC: >.>, Uh Ayame I have a confession to make.... XD!
Kouga wasn't sure if he should try to dodge or take the hug, in the end he figured she'd find some way to get at him, so he took the easiest route and dodged her hug. Preteneding to be highly interested in a random twig on the ground.
Once he was done inspecting the twig and placing it back on the snow he turned back towards Ayame and forced a smile to his lips. "Oh, Ayame! When did you get here?" He blinked at her, his forced smile still strapped to his lips. His nose twitched slightly, hoping it would pick up another scent, anyones scent.

OOC: Lmao! xP
He dodged the hug-- that wasn't a good sign. Ayame stood there, smile dropping, her happiness slowly fadeing as Kouga stood there, paying more attention to a twig than her. "I-- uh--........" she blinked slowly, her gaze lifiting from the ground to stare him in the eye. "I know when I got here. Please don't pretend that you don't know. I think I've had enough of that already." Her tone downbeat, and Ayame once again averted her eyes, looking back down into the snow.

Kouga stood a little straighter, his tail twitching behind him. "Ayame..." Crossing his arms he stared at her depressed form and held back his sigh. I promise to marry you, once you complete your training... Why had he made that stupid promise? Looking back now he wondered if he had felt something for her, now he just wasn't sure.
"Feh," He closed his eyes and turned his head away slightly, not wanting to see her pout and uncrossed his arms. "What are you doing up here anyways?" He wondered how far behind his baka's were, he perked his ears to try and pick up any sounds coming from the trees surrounding them

"You know why I'm here....." Ayame could only assume that he knew. I mean, what other reason did she have to come down from the mountains again, If not to try to bring him home. "You still haven't answered my questions though...." Her eyes stayed trained in the snow covered ground. She knew what Kouga was going to say, but still held onto the feeble hope that maybe she was wrong.
No matter how Kouga felt about her, Ayame believed her feeling about him would never change. He could run around chasing after Kagome for as long as he wanted, but in the end she loved Inuyasha, not him. Then her fiance would come home, and Ayame would be waiting.

Kouga looked away from her. "Feh, no reason to cry Ayame." He gazed at the white snow surrounding them and wondered where her wolves where. He perked his head, where were his wolves at? Glancing back at Ayame he sighed, stepping forwards he offered her a small, tense, hug before stepping back again.
Turning around he started to trudge through the snow. "Feh," He shook out his arms and legs to free them of the snow. "You going to stand there all day Ayame? You'll freeze if you do." He continued to walk without giving her a second look, a sigh escaped his mouth as he walked below a branch and was attacked, by yet another, pile of snow.

((Writers block > <<That thing is scary looking o.O)) For the time being, Ayame's wolves had followed here, but were keeping thier distance... They remembered what happened last time. Ayame was again standing silent for a minute, Kouga's words taking a minute to get to her... "Huh? um, freeze I...." She took a step or two forward, as if to follow him, then stopped herself. "No, I think I'm okay...I-I should be going now." Ayame now turned her back, starting to walk slowly in the other direction. "Thanks for thinking of me though....."

Somewhere out in the woods, a little white puppy was racing through the snow, tripping over the corpse hanging from her mouth. Yukiko had finally caught something all by herself, no help from Tsuzuki, and she wasn't about to give it up to easily. She wanted to turn it into a game-- see how long you can evade capture. Too bad for Yuki that she was leaving a trail of blood and prints behind her-- not to mention she was up against an almost fully grown demon.
Tsuzuki wasn't as amused by this a Yuki was. Sure, she was proud of the pup, but they had places to go. Not to mention the fact that she smelled other Yourouzoku on this mountain, and Yuki could get herself into some trouble for tresspassing if she wasn't careful. And if Yuki got in trouble, the blame would have to fall to her gaurdian Tsuzuki.
She watched Yuki run off, tail flicking angrily, then took off at a dead run after her. Yuki had less than a minute to find a really good hiding place if she wanted to get out of this one. But Yuki had her own ideas-- she was going to force Zuki to be social by making a beeline for the other two wolf demon scents. She raced past them, standing right under the tree line, nearest to were Ayame was, standing over the rabbit body. Zuki wasn't to far behind. Within seconds, she was there too, glaring at Yuki. "Yukiko COME."

Kouga growled as he wiped and swatted at the snow clinging to him. His eyes twitched lightly, his mind changing his first feelings about winter. I hate snow... He turned to look at Ayame, his brow raising when he noticed she wasn't following him.
Then something caught his attention, sniffing the air he crinkled his nose at the coppery scent of blood. Looking around the area his ears perked at the soft sound of padding feet in the snow. Glancing down he watched a wolf pup run past him, in its mouth the carcass of a rabbit.
He continued to watch it clamor over the snow to Ayame. Blinking he turned to the wolf demon who entered from the trees and stared curiously at her.

Zuki paused for a moment to look around-- that's right, there were others here besides her and Yuki. "Oh, excuse me, I'm Tsuzuki." She dipped her head, giving one of her more realistic fake smiles. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything...." Yuki gave her a smug look.
Ayame just looked back and forth between the pup and the demon. "What exactally are you doing...?" She gave Zuki a look like she was crazy-- nothing that Zuki wasn't used to.
