On the Basics
- If you don't read the rules it'll be obvious to the staff, so please just read them and save us all some time.
- Try and be friendly. Even if you're having a bad day, don't take it out on others because doing so will just make everyone upset. It's cliched, but "if you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
- If something doesn't go the way you want it to don't take it too seriously or personally. Roleplays are meant to be fun, right? So don't go around having a tantrum if something doesn't turn out how you wanted. Remember: real life and rps are not the same thing.
- If you have a problem with another member or a staff member please take it up with an admin. And if you have a problem with that admin, take it up with them and don't complain to other people about it.
- Don't use excessive chat speak on the cboxes please... it gets really old, really quickly. Type in complete sentences that are preferably, grammatically correct.
- Now I know that the InuYasha hints at things that can be considered unsuitable. Because of that fact this site is rated Teen, or PG13 if you would prefer. No mature content. Refer to the section in "On Posts" for more information.
- We are an intermediate forum meant for people who have intermediate to advanced writing skills. However we do allow all levels of skill, so don't feel intimidated if you don't think you're a decent enough of a writer. It takes time and practice to get good, and both of those things can be gotten here!
On Characters
- There is no limit to how many characters you may have, so long as you try and remain active with them all. This is particularly important if you are using canon characters.
- Yes you can have characters from other fandoms. I want to be as lenient as possible and allow for as much creativity as I can so as of now there are no restrictions on what (or who) you can apply for. Just note that if the character or series is too outlandish (meaning too different from the storyline) they may not get accepted. Or you may just have to make adjustments to them.
- Applications must be done well. If an admin sees something that he or she dislikes about it they will ask you to fix it. Don't think we're picking on you though if it seems like we're being a bit harsh, because in the end we're the hardest on our own work.
- Remember to post in the Face Claim thread before and after your character gets accepted. Before so you may reserve a PB and after to claim. Admins have bad memories just like everyone and we may forget to update on our own.
On Posts
- Write in third person. No exceptions. Even if you say you can write in first without it getting confusing.
- Use correct spelling and grammar. That's what Microsoft Word and Spell Check are for!
- Try to write a minimum of two good sized paragraphs (at least five sentences). In the beginning this can be a bit difficult for some people and I understand those moments of little to no muse so some leniency is to be expected on the part of the staff. There is no word count.
- No godmodding or powerplaying. If you don't know what they are either ask someone or look it up. This includes having your character know something that they haven't been directly told. I.e. a random person knowing that Caspian is a shade.
- Remember to comply with Proboards TOS. This means no themes that could be considered "mature", in either posts or pms. Note that the staff of PotW does not condone this happening. If you want to do that kind of thing do it somewhere else (such as IMs).
- Any and all timeskips that you want to do must be approved by all admins.
On Graphics
- Don't use size 0 as some browsers cannot recognize it.
- Do not allow your images to stretch the page. Signatures limited to a width of 640px, while avatars a width of 100px.
- Not required, but recommended that everyone uses blockquote tags in their rp posts for formatting purposes. Also simply because it makes it look neater.
