[/i] cats. Litters of up to four weren't uncommon, and litters of five or six weren't all that rare either, depending on whether or not the kits would be feline babies or not.
Three months into the pregnancy, and Akemi was a moon away from kitting. She wasn't all too big, since the litter was going to be born cats, but she still had quite the belly. Nekos are bigger than normal domestic cats, and each one has another transformation; a big cat of some sort, depending on personality and appearance. Sachiko and Chiyeko had gone into the forest to hunt, since their father had insisted on staying with their mother, growing ever more concerned about his mate since this was her first litter of multiples. Taiki didn't know how to hunt well yet, so he was sent to fetch water that ran through the center of the small clan's village.
When they returned, they found fire, gore and death- a band of demon slayers had found the village after being tipped off by someone at a human village nearby. They left no one alive, not even women or children. Not even Akemi or Taiki. Takeo had died trying to save his pregnant mate and his son, but the surprise attack had left everyone vulnerable. The sisters' family was murdered in their own home.
Wrought with grief, terror and being entirely alone in the world aside from each other, the pair fled to the mountains to live alone and safe from the outside. By the time Sachi turned 15, they decided to move on- become travelers. Wanderers. Gypsies, if you please.
The past three hundred years have been ruthless, but fruitful- the two have discovered themselves and though they've separated and gone their own ways, they still meet once in a while. They've grown more powerful with both age and abilities.
