The best way to describe Souta's defenses is to call him an unofficial monk -- he knows what to do without actually going through the training to become one. Anything Miroku can make use of, Souta can as well due to the teachings of his grandfather.
Sacrificial Seals: Slips of paper with kanji on them, designed to expel, kill, or ward off demons. Simply sticking them somewhere on a demon or a doorway activates it.
Purifying Salts: Salt that has been blessed and purified. Sprinkled on a demon, in the air, or around a doorway, it has the same magical properties as a seal.
Herbal Drinks/Medicine: By combining certain herbs into a bowl and grounding them up, he can create an effective drink or medicine to help others.
