Since the forming of the two worlds some temperature and environmental changes had happen, like Triet turning into a winter wasteland and Flanoir turning into a desert. The heroes had split up, Colette staying in the village of Iselia, Lloyd going around the world collecting the expheres, Genis and the Professor going around to stop discrimination towards half-elves, Sheena continuing her training to become the chief of Mizuho, Zelos still living in Meltokio happy not being the chosen any longer, and Presea stayed with Regal in helping the Lezareno Company. Yuan had stayed at the renegades bases, as Kratos had returned from Derris Kharlan. The time of prosperity had lasted for so long only to be interrupted with a fowl mage. The Summon Spirits were sealed to their temples, as well as Origin and the Great Yggdrasill tree slowly withers as the mage sucks mana from it. Who would dare challenge this mage, who only wishes for the destruction of Symphonia.
