Kagome paced around her hut nervously, wringing her hands as she worried her lower lip. She had been given the hut when she first decided to stay in the Feudal Era and become a true priestess like Kikyo. Right now she was extremely glad for the hut. She'd need it in the months to come. Earlier that day she had asked Inuyasha to come find her after she was done with training, and now she was just waiting for him to show up so she could tell him the big news. |

Inuyasha jumped through an open window of the Hut, landing behind Kagome.
"Okay, i'm here. So what's this news?"
He hadn't seen Kagome for a while so he was actually glad to be near her now. Not that he could ever tell her such.

The young priestess had been so lost in thought that she hadn't sensed the half-demon's aura. When he jumped down behind her she gasped, almost jumping out of her skin. She whirled around, blushing madly in embarrassment as she eyed him warily. He definitely had gotten right to the point... Hehe... just like Inuyasha... she thought wryly.
Taking a step toward him she bit her lower lip again, "Um.... well, I uh... I'm um...." She laughed nervously. "I'm... pregnant," she whispered. |

He stared at her for a moment as if he hadn't heard her correctly. Quite a feat considering his impressive ears. But...he must have heard wrong.
"Say what?"

She blinked. Did he just say 'Say What?' How could he? Did he not care that she was pregnant? Did he not care that this was very important? She took a deep breath to try to calm herself down so that she wouldn't end up either having a stroke or killing him. He probably just hadn't heard her, or thought she said something else.

Kagome gasped, rushing to Inuyasha's side, kneeling down when she reached him. This was definitely not a good response. She really hoped that he was just surprised and not that he didn't want a child with her. She felt tears come to her eyes. Stupid hormones... stupid freaking hormones... she thought as she tentatively put a hand on Inuyasha's chest to give him a gentle shake.
"Inuyasha? Inuyasha, please wake up..." she mumbled, the tears falling. |

Inuyasha opened his eyes, and looked blearily into kagome's.
"K-kagome? Am...am i going to be a.......dad?"

Kagome felt her throat close up on her so that when she opened her mouth to answer she found that she couldn't. And so she nodded her head numbly, unable to do anything but that. The only other thing she could do was hope that he wasn't too angry or upset with her. She watched him nervously, brushing unsuccessfully at the tears that were still leaking from her eyes. |

Kagome nodded in response as she finally managed to stop her tears from falling any longer. She knew exactly what he meant; she too was feeling overwhelmed by this turn of events. It had really caught her by surprise. She hadn't even originally thought it was possible to really know if you were pregnant or not until you started to show the signs here. But somehow she had just known; and she had asked Kaede to check for her.

Intense hazel eyes met soft brown ones as Inuyasha stared, deeply, at Kagome. He was currently speechless, such news hitting him hard and unexpectedly. He remembered that actions spoke louder then words in a lot of situations.
So he drew Kagome into a fierce, yet gentle, hug.

To say that the hug had taken her by surprise would have been the understatement of the century. Kagome returned it lovingly, wrapping her arms around him as she buried her face in the crook of his neck. She was glad that he didn't seem upset about her being pregnant, although... she really wasn't entirely sure how he was feeling; but if this hug was any indication, she was fairly certain that she had nothing to worry about. |

He continued to embrace her as he spoke.
"Being a father....with you, Kagome.......makes me truly happy. Though........things will only get harder in our lives now if mine was any example."

She pulled away from him so that she could look into his face. She smiled gently, and with a shake of her head said, "You're going to be a wonderful father, Inuyasha... I know you will be..." |
