Flint Rocks
Uses:
These flint rocks can be used to start a simple fire before going to bed in the forest, or to light a lamp. Mainly, Shijin uses these stones to create a firey spark that jumps on to the pages of his bloodstained, cursed parchment. He has even cursed the sones so that only he can create fire immediately when the stones are hit together, and so quickly that it barely takes any time for the flint-stone fire to spread onto the torn paper.
History:
Plenty of different rocks are found among the lush, mountainous regions of Japan. As Shijin was traveling through a crossroads, he walked by the makeshift stands that were full of practical merchandise. He found one littered with glimmering, semi-precious stones. The woman who owned the stand informed him that there were special stones that could light up fires, and just so, she produced a few from beneath the table and clacked them together, just above a pile of blank parchment papers. Shijin inquired where he could find some stones, and how to identify them (rather than buy them from her, of course), and the woman told him exactly where. When he eventually found the flint that was described to him by the merchant-woman, Shijin chiseled at the stone with his Hae-Kiba, and packed several chunks of the rock into his sack. If he ever needs to find more of the stone, he now knows what it looks like, and where to search.
Ebony Violin
History:
Imported and bought at a high price at a port in the eastern coast of Japan, this ebony violin is one of Shijin's most prized possesions. He will play it often, but only when he is by his temporary campsite, alone in the dark. He does not like attention, and so will not play in mixed, little, or any company at all, really...UNLESS BRIBED.
