Detailed personality description: Gikan is a very analytical person. He loves to conduct experiments (Especially genetics-related ones.) and believes that the world is a giant lab, and everything and everyone is a possible test subject. He believes everything can be explained by science and that any other reason for something is invalid. He likes to talk as if he were giving a scientific report, especially when explaining things to others or himself. He isn't fond of others, due to the fact that he sees them as 'lab mice', and doesn't wish to disturb them.

History
Detailed Personal History: Gikan was born in present-day Japan. His father and grandfather were both genetecists, as well as his inspiration to become what he is now. As a child, his family was very wealthy, because of the work his grandfather and father did. He had always loved science, and would always get things such as microscopes or chemistry sets for holidays and his birthdays.
During his third year of highschool, his father and grandfather showed Gikan their 'secret research'. They were trying to create something that could be used to genetically enhance and repair human beings. Gikan agreed to help, so instead of moving on to college, his grandfather began to teach him about genetics and biochemistry so he could understand more about this research project. When he became about 22 years old, he began to work on the project alongside his father and grandfather.
They eventually 'created' a small bacteria which would allow certain changes in genes and a cell's DNA to modify a human being. Even though they created the bacteria, there were still problems with the project, as seen when it was tested on Gikan's grandfather, causing a drastic drop in his heart's strength, causing him to die. Gikan then promised himself that he would see the project to the end for his grandfather.
When Gikan was about 30, he and his father finished a sample product, which, when tested on mice, was mostly a success. The only thing was that for every positive outcome there was an equal negative outcome. They also discovered how to cause these bacteria to move quickly throughout the body, allowing their effects to happen quicker. This was later tested on his father, who injected too much of a bacteria-filled syrum, causing his heart to stop.
Because of this, Gikan took a short break from his research, in which he travelled around around Japan, studying the wildlife of the islands. On his 'vacation', he found a shard of the shikon jewel while searching a mountain forest for wildlife. The shard was attached to the head of a 'mysterious species', which attacked Gikan, forcing him to kill it. He immediately took out the shard and carried the creature to a small lab, where he did tests on both the creature and jewel shards. Though he got odd results for both, he made the jewel shard into a necklace, and further investigating the 'creature'. He also went back to his genetics research during this time.
About a year later, while walking through a shrine, he noticed a small well. Not having seen it before, he decided to investigate, making sure no one was around to see him. As he began to look around the well, he leaned in to peek at the bottom, accidentally falling in. When he got out of the well, he noticed he was in a different area than where he had fallen in from. Confused, he began walking around, later finding out he was somehow transported to feudal Japan. After his discovery, he constantly began going back and forth between the two eras, doing research.
