History
Synnøve was born to a normal, peasent class family in feudal Japan. Her born name was Akane Kajita. When she was very young, shortly after the birth of her little brother, their father was killed; another victim of the wars raging across the country.
Her mother, a beautiful, sweet woman, was truly torn apart by his death-- and worse, it was near impossible for her to support their family without him. But fate smilied down on them-- if you could call it that. While campaining through the rural countryside, the Lord of a nearby castle spotted Synn's pretty young mother, and soon made her his mistress. She and her little family were moved to an expensive but hidden little manor behind the masion. Because of this, Syn grew up without any real close friends-- all she had was her brother.
Their semi-happy life could not last forever though-- around the time Syn turned seven, the truth came out about the Lord's little affair-- and in the classic fashion of nobility, he denied it, sending Syn, her mother, her brother, and now her young half-sister back into the streets. Unable to suffer the heartbreak a second time, their mother became ill and died. Frightened and confused, and even though she had been quite close with her sibblings, Syn ran away. She continued to live as an orphan, turning to sake and opiates for comfort, just barely getting by, until she turned seventeen.
Like her mother, Synn was quite a beautiful young woman-- and like her mother, she caught the eye of a young lord. But this lord was no pompus human-- though she did not know it, he was a vampire. Young and naive, Synn fell head over heels for his little ploy, and was soon after turned. Now once more frightened, confused, and not knowing where to turn, Syn stayed with the man who turned her, and remained as his mate for many years before once again taking flight. She know wanders ancient Japan, having changed her name from Akane to the foreign Synnøve in order to avoid her scorned lover-turned persuer.
