Nix had certainly assumed this form before. But, he was never one to stay in it for very long. He had always been more comfortable in his natural, Phoenix Mode. Not only was he mainly balancing on these two, lengthy legs, but he felt so.....exposed without his warm feathers. The few he had left did little to cover him.
A small breeze flew through the night, rustling his loincloth. He shivered a little at the cold air.
He had been watching her the whole time. At first she had seemed a little confused. He could only assume that he hadn't explained his abilities properly. Then she had seemed a little nervous, but that could blamed on his use of fire in the surrounding forest. Afterwords she'd seemed.....well, he couldn't describe. He hadn't seen a lot of female expressions to so recognize this one. It didn't seem like a bad one at least, so he was relieved.
"Amazing..." He wondered. "I suppose it can be called that. I've been to several parts of the universe, so i know that if something can be construed as being possible, it more then likely is possible."

Had she said something strange? Laurel didn't think so, but perhaps she had. As she had thought before, talking to someone with far more intelligence than the average being was much harder than talking to any animal she had ever spoken to. All of those animals had been simpleminded and had hardly thought of very much at all. This was much different... she would have to learn how to speak and act differently for situations like this.
Tilting her head to the side she watched him shiver a bit. Was he cold? Well, he certainly wasn't wearing much... Her eyes moved downward of their own accord until they rested on his loincloth. She felt herself flush, and immediately raised her gaze back up to his face.
"If being in this form makes you uncomfortable," she said, "you should go back to your normal one. I wouldn't want you to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable at all."

Nix raised an eyebrow and then chuckled. She was worried about him? They'd only just met.
"Do not fret for me, fair Lady. I will be fine."
Nix's eyes lit with his eternal fire. Then a thin, citrus aura shrouded his body, it's hue reflected in the moonlight. His shivering immediately stopped.
"I'll be fine now." he assured her. "My aura will heat my skin and protect me from the wind."
Then he frowned openly and stepped closer to Laurel. He was sure her face was red.
"Are you okay?" He asked her, placing a hand on her forehead. He was controlling his heat so that she wouldn't feel it. "You seem a little sickly."

It was strange, to feel so unusual after so simple a gesture. Why did she feel this way? She wasn't sick, at least not that she knew of. As far as she remembered she had never even gotten sick once, so now would most certainly be a strange time to start. And anyway, did immortals even get illnesses? She wasn't exactly sure that they did...She had never heard anything of that happening, but then, she heard almost nothing of immortals these days.
"N-no, I am fine. There's no need to worry about me."
Suddenly she realized why she felt so strange all of a sudden. A smile formed on her lips and she tilted her head to the side. Honestly, it was so simple. She didn't know why she hadn't thought of it before now. "It is... just that I'm not used to being around humans. Or beings with a humanoid form. I am not really sure how to act, or even what to say. I believe that I am just a bit embarrassed that I don't know how to do those things."

Nix smiled in understanding, as he stepped back. Her forehead had seemed a bit warm, but at least he knew the reason for it now. Upon further reflection, he was not sure she could even get sick. She was immortal no? Being unable to die from sickness should be a big part of that.
Though whether Immortals never got sick or if they did and the illness could never kill them....he knew not.
"That is understandable," He replied. "But, you are free to treat me as you will. You can act in whatever way feels right to act, given the situation. I will not judge you by it."
Nix had barely touched her, yet he felt himelf getting warm. Was this a typical response of a mortal male?

Laurel felt a lump grow in her throat, and had had to clear it a few times before she could breathe normally again. Why was she acting this way? It was so ridiculous... she was acting like her animals did during the mating season.
Wait a minute...mating season? Well... it was mating season, but she was certainly no animal, and only animals paid attention to that... At least.... she thought that was how it worked. She needed to ask some animals that later on, to see if other creatures were effected by the season as well. The urge to turn herself invisible and vanish was strong, but she ignored it, remembering her manners. It really would be rude of her to simply vanish like that...
"You really are very kind," she said softly, looking up at him with a shy smile. "Most would not hesitate to laugh were they to see someone in such a situation." She looked down. "But then... those people are cruel..." Not that she would really know from experience, but she had heard many a story of humans fighting over the silliest of things. Things that seemed simply remarkable to her.

Nix frowned deeply. He knew to well what she was talking about.
"People like that really irk me, i'm sorry to say. They treat badly those that do not reside in their personal social circles. The ones outside their 'zone of comfort' as the phrase goes. They will also mistreat those that they fear. Those that they know nothing about or cannot understand.
But, i'm nothing like that. I won't judge someone for the crime off being different or simply not understanding something. Nor will i fear the unknown. If I do not understand something, i will research it until i do. If I do not understand someone, i will talk to them until i am able to see their views."

Laurel stayed silent as he spoke, and kept silent even after he finished. She had never heard someone describe it like that before... how he described it may not have been the simplest way to do so, but it definitely made more sense than anything else she had ever heard. Most of the time the animals she spoke with used the simplest way possible to describe something, which often resulted in her being terribly confused by the end of their conversation.
"There are few in the world who are like you Nix. Most do not take the time to try and find out more about something they do not understand." Wrapping her arms around herself she sighed. "It is a shame, but it is the way the world is. There is nothing that can be done to change it."

Nix continued frowning, as he turned his gaze to the night sky. Though not even their intricate and fiery dance could hold his attention for long tonight.
"No.....no, I find that hard to believe. I believe that even a Universe as vast as this can hold plenty of room for change. I beleive that some day......some day change will come for us all."
Nix noticed Laurel holding herself and instinctively embraced her from behind.
"Few think like me because few have lived long enough to be as lost in thought as i have been. But....if they stopped to think even a little bit more, i'm sure they'd quit half of the habits most come to hate."

She froze when she felt his arms come encircle her from behind.
Just as quickly as her heart had stopped, Laurel's heart began to beat at twice the speed it had been beating at before. Swallowing a sudden lump in her throat she let her body relax into his embrace, trying to keep herself from blushing. What is this feeling? It's like nothing I have ever felt before... Was it... joy, maybe? At being embraced for the first time? Perhaps.
A firefly came to hover in front of her. Smiling faintly she shifted slightly so she could give it a finger to land on, which it did after circling her hand a few times. Her eyes softened as she looked at the glowing insect.
"You are right, or at least I pray that you are. I hope that one day everyone, humans and demons alike, will understand, and be able to be peaceful."

Nix felt himself getting warmer as he held onto Laurel. He supposed it was just their shared body heat. He found that he felt........happy however. Was she feeling the same way?
"All we can do is hope. For now....all we can do is make sure our own lives are happy."

Laurel continued to watch the firefly on the tip of her finger in silence for a few moments, reveling in how she couldn't even feel it upon her skin. It was amazing how such creatures existed in the world. The firefly fluttered its small wings before floating off into the night sky. The guardian watched it fly away, before her gaze fixed on the moon. The beautiful, beautiful moon...
It was such a beautiful night... it was impossible to even tell that less than an hour before a boar demon had almost completely destroyed the clearing. The clearing now looked as beautiful as it always did. And with the moon shining brightly done upon it, well... the only word that Laurel could think of to describe it was magical. Even Nix's arms around her felt perfect... she was truly happy.
She shifted slightly in his embrace so she could smile up at him warmly. "And happiness is the most important thing in the world."

Nix had also been watching the firefly. How it had danced most eloquent on her skin. For reasons unbeknownst to him he had felt a tiny pang of jealousy. But....perhaps it was the moonlight befuddling his mind and confusing his emotions.
He stretched out his fingers on his right hand until he could reach the feathers of his left arm, both of which were still entwined around the Goddess before him. He daintily plucked four feathers from his arm and let it fly.
The feathers burst into flame and transformed into small, fiery birds no bigger then a turtle dove. These birds proceeded to circle the two and Nix happily watched them dance. He smiled down at Laurel.
"Indeed it is. Happiness and all things that form of such.....the world could not exist without it."

The heat that radiated from Nix's body made her feel abnormally warm, but in a good way. It was a strange feeling. Unconsciously her body inched a bit closer to his. Laurel watched the fire birds for a few more seconds before closing her eyes. This was all surreal, she didn't quite no whether she should think it real, or just some scenario her mind created.
Opening her eyes she stared up at the moon, a small smile on her lips. "The moon is so beautiful..." she murmured. "When it is full like this it is magical..." {o.o Bad reply... Sorry, my muse seems to be on holiday. *cries* Why couldn't it have taken me too?}

(o.o: It seemed fine to me. I'm glad your muse didn't take you with it.)
Nix readily agreed with her. The moon was quite captivating in it's intensity. It's beams were almost blinding and bathed the gardens in it's Ivory light.
A quiet breeze rushed through the night again, but Nix only briefly noticed it. What he really noticed is how Laurel had moved closer to him. Especially how it seemed to be affecting his lower body; blood starting to rush towards it. He shifted, a little uncomfortably. He wasn't sure why he was feeling this way, nor what it all meant.
The birds drew his attention and he noticed they were dancing in a heart-shaped pattern. He blushed.
(See this one tis much worse)
