Born as a princess to a wealthy lord and lady of the Akamatsu dragon clan, she was treated as such. She was taught all the noble manners, and pampered in all ways a girl would want to be... but she was a tomboy. At the age of ten, she fled from her tribe, bidding her best friend goodbye, who also gave her a pendant with a smooth obsidian stone and sterling silver chain.
Detailed Version One History:
Melinda had been wandering the coasts of the sea when she had first met Veruke. Neither had expected to see another dragon youkai, but eventually they fell in love. Mel gave Veruke a shining silver scale from her own dragon body, so he could use it to summon her if he ever needed her help. She found out he hadn't slept for days, and the time he battled he would pay the price for it.
The following time they met, it was at the hotsprings, where Veruke was furious, using his sword to smash rocks to bits. Melinda coaxed him to sleep, but the next day she had also fallen unconscious, but had also gained a fever. She dremt of an angel woman with blonde hair who greeted her, and spoke the following day at midnight she would be back. Veruke had been worried, and Mel had been troubled the rest of the day. Soon midnight came, and she once more fell unconscious. This time, she saw her grandmother, who had always supported her, who explained everything. The entire Akamatsu tribe was dead, except for her, and so she was recieving powers from her family.
When she was awake, she explained to Veruke, and the first thign she tried was her poisonous claws. She placed her index finger's claw on solid rock, and the poison was so acidic, it melted right through, leaving claw marks.
