This was odd. Quite odd. Odder than usual, even for the male yourouzoku.
There was no mate. Which was nice. There were no children. Which was even nicer. And he was alone. No. Not just alone. But.
Alone.
There were no squawking birds. No chirping crickets. Not even the faint rush of water from a stream or river. It was, simply, peaceful.
The fawk. Did I die?
Kouga sat up, a sharp pain racing down his left leg and sending a howl from his gaping mouth. " Ah. Fawk! Not dead, not dead. Gods, not dead." He whimpered softly, and curled towards his leg, nursing it and resisting the urge to suck his thumb as he glared. The hell just happened to me?Kouga growled and scooted close to the tree behind him. Ignoring the pain in his leg [for the most part] and trying to remember where the hell he was. I remember Zuki yelling at me about something... He growled again and looked down at his leg. The skin was torn in a few places, but nothing to bad, but if he had to guess, some part of his leg was definitely broken. Awesome. He let his head fall back, hitting it against the trunk of the tree and yelping in pain before something landed on his head. " AAAAAAAAH! GET ET OFF! GET ET OFF!" He flailed his arm a bit [so he wasn't very graceful at the moment] and stared at whatever it was that was so 'violently' attacking him. " Huh? My bag..." He looked up. In the tree above him was strands of his bag, and loose parts of whatever he was taking back to his family. He thought. No. He would never do something that thoughtful. You know. Normally. But. If he did have to guess, most likely he had fallen out of the tree he was under, and suffering from amnesia. " Now, where the fawk am I?" The soft snap of a twig broke him from his thoughts and he glanced up. " Hello?" [/blockquote]

Kagome blinked, the wolf demon that brought so much attention to himself was very very familiar. The growl in his voice and the ungraceful jerks in his movements. The overly masculine demon was just too familiar for her liking. For someone who only knew their name at the moment. And for someone who oddly enough found nothing strange about that. The priestess frowned, her heart beating wildly and a small pain tugged at her nerves.
The frown deepened.
The priestess stepped forward.
And the bow was drawn.
Whatever recollection Kagome seemed to have with this wolf, she did not like. And she would get rid of it before the pain became a bother. The arrow notched she took another step and the twig snapped under her weight, she hesitated and the blue eyes of the wolf demon landed on her. The grip on her bow tightened, and she bit lightly on the insides of her cheeks.
Kou...
Something stomped down on her heart, not letting the name enter her thoughts completely as she met her resolve, the arrow slipping from her fingers and sent forward quickly but probably not as accurately as she had hoped. Or wanted. Or maybe relieved to know. It depended on what part of the heart was talking.

"K-Kagome?!" Kouga was actually a little happy to see her. It had been, what? A year? Give or take, since the last time he had seen her. And so much had changed in that time. He had a mate. Children. And he was so whipped it wasn't even funny. If only Zuki was here... He snickered a bit and gave the priestess his famous smirk. " It's been awhile since the las- AH! Kagome!" Kouga dived to the side as best he could, cursing as his leg burned with pain. " What the hell is wrong with you?" He growled and looked up once more. The arrow she had sent flying towards him had landed in the tree behind him and was still quivering a bit. " Geez. Glad I ducked when I did. I'd have a lot of explaining to do to Zuki." He mumbled to himself before looking back at Kagome. " You okay?" His eye brow rose a bit as he picked himself up off the ground [as graceful as he could]. His foot slipped at first and he ended up putting all his weight on one leg. Yelping he finished the job by just bearing with the pain. All this from falling out of a tree. He steadied himself and glared up at Kagome again. " Seriously. What's your problem, babe?" [/blockquote]

Missed. Luckily...No, not luckily. The sound of her own name coming from this supposed stranger made her chest hurt more. He knew her. He shouldn't know her. And she didn't know him. Too confusing! She didn't know him! She didn't want to know him, but why? Or did she? She let out a grunt of frustration, dropping her things. He was no threat, and she had lost her chance in a surprise attack. No point getting rid of the nagging feeling in her gut.
"Stop acting like you know me!" Kagome said, glaring at him and pointing at him. "You don't. And I don't know you. I don't know how you came to know my name, but..." She paused. But what? She flushed in emberassment at not knowing what to say after that. It never occured to her to actually ask how he knew her. Thinking about it made her head hurt. It made her heart pound.
Kagome shook her head. Trying to make her confusion loosen on her head. It only made her stumble backward.

"What the..."
Kouga was quote bewildered. And he wasn't quite sure if it was because of the searing pain in his leg, or if the raven haired mynx before him was going insane. He leaned against the tree, and placed his other hand on his hip.
"Of course I know you. And that annoying hanyou pup you always galivant around with. It's me, Kouga?" He growled softly at the thought of InuYasha. [Whom he hadn't seen in quite some time] Before smirking back at Kagome. "Where is that annoying dog anyways?" He glanced down for a moment. Wondering what would happen if he tried to move his leg. You know. I don't I could have fallen from the tree and done this much damage...
Annoyed he glanced over at the preistess once more. " Seriously. Is this an act or something?" Strangely he wanted to walk towards her. Maybe even... Hug? Her. -gasp- Blasphemy. Yep, he was gettin' a beatin' when he got home. Once. He got home. Sighing he stared straight ahead at his old friend. Waiting for her to remember. Or. You know. Help? [/blockquote]

Kagome gripped at her head, tugging at her hair as her foggy mind seemed to swirl into a storm. She gritted her teeth, closing her eyes as she tried to get rid of this pain. Kouga. Kouga. She slowly blinked, looking desperately at him for answers. A hanyou? She wanted to know, she really wanted to know, but something had a grip on her, held her down and smothered the questions she wanted to ask.
"Why would I be acting!?" She groaned, picking up her bow with stiff movements and straightened herself with the little dignity she had. "I don't know a hanyou dog. I've been traveling alone. That's how it's always been..."
Hasn't it?
Something forced her not to ask. Something heavy in her chest, that brought the pain jolting through with such questions. And yet she didn't question it. "Have a good day...Kouga..." she had a problem saying the name for some reason. "You should probably have that leg checked out, it could get infected if you don't clean it." Of course she didn't have her aid kit with her....
No, she didn't own an aid kit.

"Does she seriously not remember me?" Kouga murmured to himself, staring at Kagome with a look of concern and confusion. He actually probably looked quite silly, standing against a tree with a broken leg. A torn bag of... something all around him, and a confused look on his face. Look at the crazy man mommy!
He rolled his eyes. " It was just a question, no need to get so defensive." He growled softly back at her. " You always travel with that hanyou, InuYasha. You know with the long white hair, the tail and the puppy dog ears?" He swished his own tail as to prove a point, but mostly it was in irritation. His once happy, omg-I-haven't-seen-you-in-forever-come-here-so-I-can-glomp-you look was gone, and replace with a very annoyed glare. " I would love to just go and get help. But I have a feeling that I'll either be crawling my entire way there, or I'll be killed in the process. Plus!" He raised one of his hands in the air, pointing in a random direction. " I have no idea where I am, why I'm here, or what the hell was in this bag I have strewn all over the place." He was huffing at this point. A minor moment of weakness for the yourouzoku as he tried to collect his calm once more. " Okay. Maybe this is just an act or maybe you're utterly confused as to who I am. But could you at least help me to the nearest town?" What a proud day for a wolf. Asking a human for help. Well. She wasn't just any human. She was Kagome. And Kouga was very curious as to what was going on with her. [/blockquote]

Kagome paused, her legs aching, an unknown force tensing her muscles, trying to push her forward but another force had her stay. Her body was tense, but her heart ached to stay. Ached to hear what Kouga had to say. Her heart skipped a beat, and joy overwhelmed her for a split second.
Inuyasha...
The description of Inuyasha overwhelmed her mind, and an image started to form itself, blurred and misshapen with only the small details the wolf gave her. It was enough. But just as the the picture started to sharpen something pushed it away, blew it into the deep recess of her mind where it seemed to pixelate and fade into nothingness. She wanted to reach for it, pull it back and reshape it into what she knew it could be. There was something to Inuyasha, to her memories. And Kouga knew about them.
Slowly Kagome met Kouga's eyes, oh so familiar blue behind narrowed eyes and furrowed brows. There was a hint of recollection in her brown eyes but it was only for a moment, and once again something forced it away. A dark energy flowing through her body, a puppeteer pulling strings; and especially heart strings. Changing how she felt and thought of the world around her.
But there were too many strings and not enough hands for the puppeteer. And its grip on one slipped as the human priestess slowly smiled. "Might want to take care of your leg first. I don't have any supplies though..." her sentence broke off and she looked in the direction of the village she had come from. "They might have something though." she points in the direction before finding it her duty to pick up the dropped belongings and place back in the bag. The string was pulled and her small bit of happiness turned to a solemn state of calm. But with that string pulled another was missed. "I'll help you then you can help me..."

"Once we reach the village I can fix my leg." Kouga growled softly. Mostly from annoyance, but also from the fact that she was picking up the stuff he couldn't remember getting. He ws sure if he didn't return soon to Zuki, that she would come looking, and there would be a beating ensued after that. Well. Actually, he didn't know how long he'd been gone.
Hours? Days? Weeks?
Gods be damned if he knew. Which, in a weird way, was a good thing. Cause if Zuki did come calling, he'd be able to say, he didn't remember anything. And not be lying. Perfect plan, win. Now, he could just sit back, relax and enjoy being mateless and kidless.
"Ah, fawk." He snarled as he moved his leg in the wrong directiong. A sharp pain lacing it's way up his thigh and back. Geez... Kill me. He whimpered softly. "For now, it'd be great if you could just carry my bag for me." His voice was full of irritation. "Just until we reach the village. I should be able to walk alright by myself."
Kouga took a step forward and clenched his teeth. This might prove more difficult then I thought.
He started walking, dragging his broken leg behing him, [sort of like Igor from Frakenstein x3] and spoke to Kagome. " What's the last thing you remember?" [/blockquote]

Kagome watched him patiently, not worriedly though, that string was pulled tightly where the puppeteer wanted it. She glanced at his leg then reached down and picked up the bag, and walked alongside the wolf keeping her pace slow to stay with Kouga. She stayed quiet as he, having so many questions in her head but not the power to voice them.
Luckily Kouga gave her that chance. Kagome frowned, looking at their path. The last thing she remembered. Her eyes darkened as they narrowed and she seemed in a daze for a moment before she spoke. "Pain." That was the utmost thing she remembered. Being on the ground, thriving in pain, in the overwhelming urge to kill and yet the overwhelming urge to save. Two moralities clashing and twisting together. "A fight...and blood. And..." Her voice drifted off as she slowly tilted her head, concentrating on something only visible to her own eyes.
Concentrating did nothing for Kagome and she blinked away the dark hue in her eyes, the images in her mind, and looked at Kouga. She was blank before coming here. "That's it."

"I see..." He didn't really. Kouga just couldn't think of what else to say, and awkward silences just wasn't his thing. Of course, there's wasn't very silent, he was "Oamfing" and grunting every few seconds as his leg drag behind him. Pathetic. He could just imagine the verbal beating he'd be taking from Zuki right now. Or from anyone else he knew. But Kagome was being quite silent about it, maybe this amnesia thing is good. We can start over... Sort of.
Granted he wouldn't be able to kidnap her and take her to his cave, promise to be her mate and then beat up InuYasha again [hopefully more successfully]. Mostly because he had a broken leg, secondly he really didn't have the energy to toss her over his shoulder, or the patience to deal with her memory loss, and flying arrows.
Oh. And he had a mate now too.
Last time, he only had his stalker, Ayame. And she was... Somewhere, now.
"Do you remember where you were?" He let his thoughts go finally and focused on what was actually ahead of him. "I mean, you at least remember what village you woke up in. Right?" Kouga glanced over at her, blinking. He wasn't entirely sure why he wanted to help her, maybe it was just to stay away from Zuki longer, or possibly... Just possibly, he had a little bit of feelings left for her.
Either way, he wanted to help.

Kagome kept her eyes ahead as the village came into view, the trees parted away from the path and she could see the small amount of people moving about. This village was small but surprisingly friendly she glanced at him for only a second with his questions. Would he really be able to help her? She really wanted the help.
"I was carried off somewhere and I woke up near here, and went to the village's physician for the pain I was having." the priestess replied as they walked further into the village, people starting to notice them and they paused in what they were doing to stare. She ignored them and so they did the same. Sweeping the floor in front of an old hut an old man stood, his back hunched forward and his face ever so calm and relaxed to see the two. "Welcome back Priestess, I didn't know you had a thing for wolves." Kagome flushed in emberassment as the man smiled and gestured them inside, limping into the hut. "I didn't expect you back, do you need more medicine for your head pain?"
"No, my head is fine for now, but Kouga injured his leg." The man moved further into the hut, covered jars was huddled into the back corner of and a small fire place in the middle of the room, the small flames unable to grow and feed on the humid air. He turned and took a long look at Kouga, thick, white brows furrowed as his eyes fell on the injured leg.
"I see...well try and make yourself comfortable and I'll get my things." The man slowly moved away, going to the move to find bandages, and his other supplies. Kagome moved herself to sit near the fireplace, placing her legs beneath her. It seemed to be too quiet for the man as he gathered his things. "That is some injury, what kind of fight were you in, Wolf?"

The grove of trees before them, broke apart to reveal a small village nestled in the clearing and hugging close to the forest on almost every side. Kouga rolled his eyes as he continued limping and dragging his leg. He expected to recieve the kind of welcome he always did. Glares, whispers, running women and children... Maybe a pitch fork or two accompanied by a burning torch.
Yet, when he entered the village, the glares were more like blank stares. And whispers and grumblings didn't reach his ears. Granted they ones who saw him did stop their working, and even if Kagome couldn't feel it, the tension built up around the village. Yes. Evil wolfy is here to eat you all. Bwahahaha.
He could smell the fear, but walking around with his leg dragging behind him didn't make him look very threatening. Damn it." Welcome back preistess, I didn't know you had a thing for wolves." Kouga growled softly at the portly man. He wanted to grumble, curse, even knock the old man upside the head. But he stayed calm, and simply glared back. He did need his help after all. He ignored Kagome's conversation with the man and took a few quick glances around him. Oddly, the other villagers had already proceeded to go back to work. Simply content with not badgering the yourouzoku, or trying to run him out of town. Worked for him. Kouga snapped back to his current task and grumpily followed the other two inside the hut. " ..Well try and make yourself comfortable and I'll get my things." There wasn't much to get comfortable on, so Kouga plopped onto the floor of the hut and crossed his arms over his chest. " Pathetic..." His mind continued to go back to Zuki and what she would be saying right now. Or having the kids do to him. He could imagine them jumping up and down on his leg, Zuki beside him laughing her skinny ass off and pointing. " That is some injury, what kind of fight were you in, Wolf?" Kouga snapped out of his day dream and glared up at the man. " My name is Kouga, old man." He growled lightly and sat himself up straighter, feeling quite vulnerable at the moment. " And I don't remember." He glanced away, staring up at Kagome a moment before closing his eyes. " I fell out of a tree, I think." He glared up at the stranger and bared one of his fangs, as if daring him to even let out a chuckle. " But who cares? Fix me up so I can leave." Kouga turned his head to face Kagome once more. " And tell me if you know anything about her." [/blockquote]

The old man was unaffected by Kouga. Yes, he was a demon, and yes, he should be afraid. But that was what old age did to you. The man was used to things, used to the idea of death and didn't care none the least. The rest of the village, very uncomfortable with a demon in their midst, was a small small village which barely any others took interest in. No point in making a ruckus with a demon and end up dying in the process. The preservation of the village was the upmost important, and can't be done if an angered demon burned the place down. On the other hand, the man had no qualms in pressing the wolves buttons.
The old man only nodded, ignoring the wolves rudeness, only his brows rose in interest with curiousity on why a wolf would ever be in a tree. Either way, he brought his luggage to Kouga, slowly bringing himself onto the floor himself and opening a jar with green goo inside of it. Kagome watched the man, who worked with the goo onto his injured leg and worked with cleaning and bandaging. "I don't know much about Kagome-san. She said she didn't know anyone and yet you're here, so that is interesting."
"I only just met him, he says he knows me," She added, placing her hands in her lap. The man nodded. "Kagome-san, I forgot I told my son to come over, could you keep him busy for me until I'm done?" she gave him a questioning look but nodded, getting up and moving out of the head. The old man chuckled, wrapping the leg with the bandages. "The boy would have a heart attack seeing what I'm doing." he glanced at the entrance as he tied the bandages. "I hope you watch Kagome-san. There is something about her situation which bothers me. Old age makes you very wise, and I notice many things. There is something very off in the way she acts, yes?"

Kouga was uncertain about the goo that the old man was smathering into his leg. Not only did it leave a foul smell in the air, it tingled his skin quite a bit. He growled lightly, keeping the old man in check and snarled a bit when Kagome was asked to leave the hut. Yah, great, just leave me in here with some strange old man. He's probably spreading poison through my system with that 'medicine' of his.
Unamused, Kouga grumbled lightly and bent his back, leaning against the wall behind him for support as he waited... Some what patiently for the man to finish. " That boy would have a heart attack seeing what I'm doing." The demon's eyes rolled in annoyance. " Just fix me up, I don't need you to speak with me. Unless you have something valid to say." As if ignoring him, the old man continued. " I hope you watch Kagome-san. There is something about her situation which bothers me. Old age makes you very wise, and I notice many things. There is something very off in the way she acts, yes?" " Yes. Which is why I brought her here." Kouga's eyes lowered for a moment, but his angry features didn't leave his face. " I was hoping you'd be more helpful, baka. Instead of annoyed." He growled softly, once more glancing up. " She said she doesn't remember anything before few days ago. You have any idea where she came from before here?" Kouga thought for a moment after his question, blinking and then sticking his nose in the air. Sniffing he picked up Kagome's scent, she wasn't too far away, just outside and mixing in with several other scents he wasn't particularly fond of. Before his leg had been taking up his brain capacity. But maybe if the old man ever finished, Kouga would be able to concentrate on Kagome's scent and track it back to where she started. " Is there a way to erase memories?" [/blockquote]
