Detailed personality description: Ayame is kind, cheerful, and fairly good natured, unless you're standing in the way of her 'fiance's' affections. Even so, she doesn't seem one to really hold a grude, though she is very determined. She can be stubborn though, to the point of almost foolishness, as shown when she said that she would train herself to be able to see jewl shards. Bravery is another of her characteristics, and wont hesitate to fight for her loved ones.

History
Detailed Personal History: It appears that Ayame was born in the territory of the eastern yourouzoku (Kouga's) clan/tribe/pack. When she was very young, she was attcked by a harpy demon while trying to pick the Iris she wears in her hair-- a flower with the same name as her. Kouga came to her rescue, and alledgedly promised to make her his wife when she finished trianing and came down from the mountains. There was also supposedly a lunar rainbow on this night.
Fast forward many years-- Ayame has finished her training, and her tribe is under attack. Fighting between packs has increased lately, and Ayame's grandfather sends her south to be matched up with one of the strong young warriors, so peace can be restored. Naturally she goes to find Kouga, whom she believes has already promised himself to her. The only problem is, he claims to have no memory of his promise, and also claims to be engaged to Kagome. After a brief fight with one of Naraku's hair demons during with Kouga saves her, she leaves again saying that she shall train herself to see jewl shards like Kagome and return to win Kouga's love.
Current history:
In Tsuzuki&&Squee's thread 'Ever Dream', Ayame once again meets up with Kouga. The two plan to travel together, until Tsuzuki&&Yukiko show up. Ayame takes an immediate dislike to the demoness, particularly after Kouga starts to think out loud and mentions a few things about Tsu Ayame isn't particularly happy with. Anyway, the three of them and their respective wolves then set off in search of Naraku.
As explained in Tsuzuki's 'End of Innocence.', she and Kouga end up [unintentionally] as mates. Ayame, confused, depressed, and heartbroken, still stays with the pair out of hopes Kouga will realize how horrid his new woman is and run away with her-- which of course never happens. Rather, they end up having more children. Crushed once again, Ayame leaves the group in a state of vegetative depression sometime shortly after the events in 'Teenage Wasteland'. She returned to her home in the Norther mountains, and stayed there until Tsuzuki's 'I'm Not That Girl' in which she realizes that sulking isn't going to get her anywhere, and if she wants Kouga's love she's going to have to fight for it once again.
