History
Detailed Personal History: Kai and his younger brother Shinta were raised in one of the Northern Wolf Packs. It is assumed that him and his brother were orphaned when the attacks on Yourouzoku first began, then the rest of his tribe were wiped out by Moryomaru, a badger demon controlled by Byakuya of Illusions (also known as the Byakuya of Illusionary Dreams). Though he was severely wounded, Kai was given a shikon shard and a chain weapon and was instructed to kill Kouga and take his shards, then return them before the sunset of that day or Shinta would die. His single shard made him almost as fast as Kouga, but after a brief scuffle he fled as he was losing and running out of time. Kouga followed him and ended up battling Moryomaru, and with the help of Inu-tachi (Inuyasha's gang), they were able to rescue Shinta. After that Kai, Shinta, Ginta, and Hakkaku were sent (by Kouga) to find another tribe in the area and stay with them. Though the other two left, Kai and Shinta remained with the new pack.
