((This is a short little Shesshomaru and Rin thing I wrote. Just felt like posting it. It's crap compared to some of my other stuff, but it's the only thing I have on this computer. Everything else is hand-written. Yeah, I know. Old school.))
Rin trudged along behind Shesshomaru and Jaken. She didn’t like Jaken at all, but she did love Shesshomaru. He looked after her and he had such a pretty tail! She was getting bored, though. She sighed and kept walking through the grass. She was walking at night, and she couldn’t see very well. She could follow Shesshomaru because he was dressed in all white and that was pretty easy to see, but the shadows cast on the ground made it hard to tell where the big rocks and clumps of grass were. She fell down again. She looked back and noticed the big clump of grass. She stood up hurriedly and followed Shesshomaru.
“The child is clumsy, milord, Jaken said for what seemed like the millionth time. Shesshomaru ignored him. He moved around Jaken and back to Rin. “What happened?” He asked, his voice cold but yet soft.
“I fell…” She said, biting her lip.“She’s not worth all this tro-“ Jaken was silenced with a sharp glare from Shesshomaru. “Why?” He asked her. “I can’t see.” She said, on the verge of tears. If she couldn’t keep up, would Lord Shesshomaru leave her? Shesshomaru knelt in front of her, scooping her up into his arms and carried her for the rest of the night.

The little group slept during the daytime, and Shesshomaru found something for Rin to eat and he cooked it for her. Jaken once again complained about the child, but one look from Shesshomaru silenced him.
Once they began to walk, Rin was fine in the moonlit parts. But once they entered the forest, she began to stumble again. Shesshomaru stopped and picked her up again, allowing her to snuggle into his tail as she fell asleep.
Shesshomaru stopped, and Rin woke up. “Lord Shesshomaru?” She asked sleepily. “Look around, Rin.” He commanded. She did as she was told and her eyes widened as she watched the field full to the brim with fireflies. “So pretty…” She breathed softly.
Shesshomaru let her down and they walked through the field. Jaken sneered at her and watched her race through the grasses. Shesshomaru glanced at him, warning him not to say anything. Rin had lots of fun, for that brief moment in time. She chased fireflies with her bare hands under the brightness of the moon and the safety of her dear Lord Shesshomaru. It was a memory she would cherish, even as an adult.

Later that night, they exited the long field and emerged into the forest again. Jaken and Rin began to argue about some little detail, and Shesshomaru looked back at them.
His eyes jumped over Jaken and focused on Rin. So little and fragile… She had been so kind to him when he was injured that first time they had met. Then her own kind had killed her.His lips twisted with revulsion. If her own kind wouldn’t care for her, he would. It was a matter of honor. “Jaken,” He said softly, “Leave Rin alone.”
“Y-y-y-yes, milord.” Jaken stuttered, watching as Rin ran towards Lord Shesshomaru and held his hand.
