The story is based off of a manga I'm making. ^^;; (The story's about a year old though. ^^; )
A young man, about 17 years of age, laid on the ground, silent from the battle that had just took place, a dark, rattling voice echoing in his mind. His long black hair waved gently in the sea breeze, while waves crashed against the plateau-like island.
“You think you are some hero; when you are only just a naïve boy who has gained a rare ability…” the voice said. He could still picture the sinister, snake-like smile of the voice’s owner.
The battle was still fresh in his mind. A man with long, pitch-black hair down to his feet stood in front of him, an eerie darkness surrounding him. Kouryuu thrust his spear at the mysterious man, but was blocked by a dark aura. He attacked once more with his spear, slicing upwards, but again, his attack did nothing. The pitch-black rings of the man's eyes shown through the dark aura, and a black, clawed hand, shot out towards Kouryuu's heart. The hand moved too fast for Kouryuu to anticipate, and it went straight through his heart. In it’s hand was a small, ocean blue orb. It pulled the orb through Kouryuu’s body and back into the aura of the shrouded man. Kouryuu fell to the ground, and looked up weakly. By the time his sight was where the man was, he had already disappeared.
The dark voice rang out again, “You will soon see that I am correct. That you are no hero, and that you stand no chance against the evil forces at work in this world…”
The world faded before Kouryuu, only having enough time to glimpse his two other friends, a young man about the same age, with brown, spiked hair, and a Hakai, a lizard-like creature with two pairs of arms, horn-like ears, and a single horn above the nose, being struck down in one blow by the same man.
"Kouryuu...? Kouryuu, are you okay...?" A familiar young voice calmly said.
Kouryuu opened his eyes and looked around the wasteland island. Gizoku, the other young man, was sitting on a nearby rock, looking out to the sea with his hand held out; palm up. Yamori, the Hakai, which also had a pair of large wings, laid sleepily on the ground, like a lazy dog. In front of him stood Garyuu in the form of a young man about 19, with medium length dark gray hair tied in a pony tail. Kouryuu had only known Garyuu in the form of a very old, crippling man, with almost no hair.
"Garyuu...? What happened?" Kouryuu asked, rubbing his head. His chest was bandaged where the claw had went through, but he could still feel the pain pulsing in him slightly.
"Jachimaru; Leader of the Akutenshi fought you and brought you here. At least, that's what I got from listening to your two friends." Garyuu responded, looking around the island and then to Gizoku and Yamori.
"Jachimaru? Akutenshi?" Kouryuu asked, confused. He sat up slowly, trying to ignore the pain.
Garyuu started explaining, "The Akutenshi is a dark organization who are, ultimately, trying to take over this planet. They're far worse than the Hakai, but they've only recently begun to move. They were a big problem in the past, but I thought they disbanded."
"But... why did he attack me...?" Kouryuu asked, pointing to the bandaged area of his body.
"He obviously thought you would get in the way, so he tried taking you, Gizoku, and Yamori out." Garyuu said, standing up.
"And... what happened to you...?" Kouryuu asked, looking at Garyuu in this new form.
"Ha ha... I should've told you earlier. This is my true form; how I normally look." Garyuu said, laughing slightly.
Kouryuu stood up weakly and started walking towards Gizoku. "Hey! You shouldn't get up, you're still weak!" Garyuu called out, trying to reach for Kouryuu.
"I'm not just gonna stand here and do nothing while the Akutenshi are out there doing who-knows-what." Kouryuu responded, a small hint of anger in his voice. “And I’m going to get that Jachimaru back for trying to kill us…” he said.
"We don't have much of a choice..." Gizoku said, sighing. "If you haven't noticed, we're stuck on a remote island in the middle of nowhere..." he said. His voice had less hype and happiness than normal, but seemed depressed and slightly agitated.
"Don't worry about it, I'll just surf us all out of the island. I've done it before." Kouryuu said grinning and patting his friend on the shoulder, trying to cheer Gizoku up.
"Ha ha... I'm not sure if you've found this out yet, but..." Gizoku started. Even his laugh didn't seem normal, but was somewhat hollow. He held up his hand and the wind picked up weakly, then died down after 5 seconds. "My magic won't work, and Yamori can't even breath fire... Apparently that Jachimaru seems to have done something more than just beat us up..." he said, looking out to the sea and sighing.
Kouryuu tried making a large wave; but the water only rose just enough to tell, and fell back down. "Looks like we're in trouble then... unless Garyuu could teleport us." he said in an optimistic tone, smiling.
Garyuu shook his head slightly and looked up to Kouryuu. "Teleporting injured people with the amount of energy I have now would be too risky... so we'll wait for now." he said, sighing. Kouryuu nodded silently and looked out to the calm, blue sea. “But there could possibly be another way.” Garyuu said, trying to cheer the group up.
“Really!?” Kouryuu and Gizoku replied ecstatically. Yamori looked up at the scene going on and yawned.
“Yes. There is supposed to be an underground tunnel that the Akutenshi used to use in the past to secretly move from continent to continent and island to island.” Garyuu explained. “The only problem is that the Akutenshi may have re-occupied it, and with the situation we’re in right now, it could be extremely dangerous…” he finished, sighing.
Kouryuu grinned ecstatically, even though there situation was nothing to be happy about. The others, Yamori excluded, looked at Kouryuu with a face saying something along the lines of “Are you crazy?”.
“Oh, come on guys! Nothing’s stopped us from getting this far. We’ve defeated the Hakai generals. Destroyed the source of the Ayatsuri crystals. And even defeated the two strongest Ayatsuri the Hakai created! We can do this! What are hero’s if they always give up when the going gets tough? Are we really just a bunch of weak, naïve children who can’t save our worlds from the Hakai’s and apparently Akutenshi’s reign?” Kouryuu said in his speech, trying to convince them that anything could be possible if they tried.
“Of course we’re not! Kouryuu’s right! We’ve gotten this far, whose going to stop us now?” Garyuu said, holding up a fist. Gizoku, without a word, held his fist up, smiling slightly.
After the small speech, the group searched for the secret path. Beneath rocks, at the edge of and along the cliffs, as far beneath the sea as they could. They ran into many creatures on the search, and eventually, they found what they were looking for. Beneath a small bubbling pond, Gizoku noticed a small crack. He put on his katars and struck the ground with full force. The ground started to split, and the group fell down a long, slide-like tunnel.
“Wahoo! This is really an adventure now!” Gizoku called out to the others behind him. Kouryuu, who had recovered enough from his wound to fight, smiled back and nodded. Garyuu, along with Yamori gently glided down the tunnel.
“Now all we need to do is find the way out.” Kouryuu said as the landed on a soft patch of dirt.
“Looks like the search is over…” Gizoku said bluntly, pointing to a small opening about fifteen feet from them. “But… don’t you think this is a bit too easy?” Gizoku said, looking behind him.
“No time for chit-chat, let’s get outta this place.” Kouryuu said, running to the exit as fast as he could. The others followed, Gizoku walking cautiously from behind.
“See! Nothing’s wrong, it’s just fine!” Kouryuu responded, looking down into the opening at the others. The tunnel had led them to a large, humid rainforest. Seemingly out of nowhere, Kouryuu was hit by a large, black, clawed hand in the side of the face. Kouryuu hit a large tree, and the wound from earlier seemed to have re-opened.
“Kouryuu!” Gizoku called out, running out of the opening and looking to find the culprit.
Gizoku looked to where the hand came from, and at it’s origin was the same man from earlier; Jachimaru. Then, as suddenly and surprising as the first, a black hand shot out from the aura surrounding Jachimaru, hitting Gizoku in the face and pinning him to a tree beside Kouryuu.
“Come on out, heroes.” Jachimaru said in his dark, rattling voice, smiling his snake-like smile. “I’m sure you wouldn’t want to see your dear friends crushed, knowing you didn’t even try to help them.” he said, laughing out. His laugh was very dark and deep, yet soft, and was definitely enough to scare the creatures of the rainforest away.
“Die!” Yamori shouted, flying out of the opening at Jachimaru. To Yamori’s surprise, another black hand shot out of the aura, and grabbed Yamori’s snake-like neck. A second hand shot out as well, helping to pin the Hakai on yet another tree.
“Such a pity… I thought you all were going to be a challenge…” Jachimaru said, wiping some of his hair out of his eyes. “Maybe I-”
“You’re forgetting about me!” Garyuu interrupted, running at Jachimaru, a metal blade growing from his hand. As he got in range, he slashed horizontally at his enemy.
“Oh. I didn’t forget about anything.” Jachimaru said, grinning as he deftly dodged the blade. Another black hand shot out from the aura and aimed at Garyuu’s face. Garyuu, knowing what would come, jumped over Jachimaru. The arm followed, as Jachimaru laughed his dark laugh.
“You’re time is up Jachi-!” Garyuu started, then realizing his leg was stuck in something, he stopped as fear struck his face. He looked up, as he was stuck upside-down, and saw Jachimaru’s real arm latched onto his leg.
“I have two arms of my own you know.” Jachimaru said, grinning. He then tossed Garyuu onto another tree, and his black arm thrust against his chest, pinning him. “You thought you were heroes. You actually thought you could defeat me. How childish. There are no such things as heroes in this world. Only the strong and the weak. And you are the weak.” Jachimaru said. “A misfit Hakai. An assassin that couldn’t kill. A master of the elements who couldn’t defeat his dead brothers. And last of all, the worst one of the bunch, a weakling child from another world, who couldn’t even fit in in his own world.” he said, looking to Yamori, then Gizoku, then Garyuu, and finally Kouryuu.
“It’s time this world, and yours, Kouryuu, learn that heroes don’t exist. That they’re only out there to give false hope to the weak of this planet. It’s time to die.” Jachimaru said, grinning an evil, dark grin. All at once, the black hands crushed the heroes, and the sky turned a scarlet red. Jachimaru wiped the blood off his face and turned to the scarlet horizon.
“My reign is only just beginning.” he said, with one final, shrill laugh.
