Hindsight being 20/20 and all, Miyako realized that maybe she should not have come here alone. The going was tough, and the volcanic fumes stung her eyes. It had been harder since she had had to cover her face with one sleeve of her kimono to protect her lungs from the ash that occasionally blew up. But, she saw the climb as a test of sorts.
When she had heard a couple of travellers speaking of a swordsmith who lived in a volcano, she had become curious. She had heard them talk of how strong the blades were, how they would not easily break. The miko had gazed contemplatively at her hands clasped in her lap as she sat with her back to the travellers, trying not to appear as though she had been listening.
She still wasn't sure what had made her think she needed a sword when she reached the top of the mountain. There appeared to be a cave carved into the side of the volcano. Gathering her strength and courage, Miyako stepped toward the cave. "Um...excuse me..." she called softly. "I'm looking for the swordsmith that is rumored to live here...." Crossing her arms in front of her, covering her hands with her kimono sleeves, she gazed around, wondering what sort of person could possibly live here.

“And what would you need of my service,” Came the echoing reply from deep with in the cave. Kaji was just sitting cross-legged on the floor of the cave. Her eyes looking deep with in the flames as they danced across the cave. She could see the petty form of the person that would visit her. Breathing in, she let a deep sigh. Oh how she loved the smell of sulfur and the acids that the volcano produced. It was heaven to Kaji, but hell to others who opposed the element fire.

Miyako jumped, startled. She gazed again into the cave, blinking rapidly. There was a woman. "Woah....when did you get there?" she asked, the shock slowly wearing off. She shook her head to clear the remains of it. "Anyways. You are the swordsmith?" Belatedly, Miyako realized that that had sounded completely stupid. She shook her head again. Perhaps the ash and dust and smoke in the air was interfering with her abilty to think straight.
"I have no idea what made me come up here. All I know is that when I heard rumors of a swordsmith who could make unbreakable blades, I had to see if the rumors were true." She bowed her head, not sure how to phrase the next bit. "I have come for one of your swords." Now, Miyako hated fighting and was a bit of a pacifist. But she never knew when something would happen to prevent her from using her sutras, or even her kazaana. She could not use a bow and arrow...the priestess that had taken her in had figured that out easily enough. A sword was the answer. "Have you one for me?" Wincing slightly, Miyako realized that had probably sounded very rude. Rather than correcting herself and looking flustered, she prayed the smithy would take no offense.

“Hmph I have no blade for you, girl,” came the echoing reply. Standing up, Kaji made her way to the mouth of the cave. Her eyes stern, and her lips drawn in a line. Looking at the girl, she nodded again. She definitely hasn’t made a sword that would be for the girl. The girl was thin and frail, she hardly doubt she could even pick up one of her blades. Definitely a challenge to work with, a metal that was light and easy to handle. Then there was the fact that, she hardly doubt the girl would know how to use a sword much less lift one.

Miya took a few steps backward. "I understand, Lady Swordsmith. I am sorry I troubled you," Miyako bowed and turned her back to the smithy. She took a deep breath as she gazed out at the surrounding area. It was probably better this way. After all, how could a priestess who hated to fight even think to wield a sword? "I shall have to defeat my enemies my own way, then," she whispered, holding up her right hand and staring at the white and red cloth that covered her arm. The red prayer beads shifted slightly with the slight breeze. A sigh escaped the miko's lips as she lowered her hand. "I apologize again for troubling you. I shall take my leave now." Miyako turned and bowed once more.

Kaji waved her hand as she snorted, who ever said she couldn’t forge a sword for the girl. Besides there is just something about that makes, Kaji want to make the sword for her.
”Hn.. I said I don’t have a sword for you girl, that doesn’t mean I can’t forge one for you,” she said with a small sigh. A small feet but she would be able to do it, now then what metal does she have that is light. “Come in, come in. We have much to talk about, on what to forge your sword with.” she said with her eyes closed, as she made a beckoning gesture.

Miyako stopped as the other spoke again. She turned and walked back. "You would forge a sword for me?" she asked slowly, following Kaji into the cave. "I don't know that I'll be able to pay you for such a thing..." Slowly, Miyako knelt down in the cave, glancing around.
"Forgive me, but I had heard that you don't usually just give someone a sword for no reason...yet, it seems as if you are doing just that," Miyako said, carefully choosing her words. She could sense the aura of a demon around this woman, and she sighed. She didn't know what would happen next, and that worried her a bit.

Kaji put her hand up, smiling a bit. “My payment is to forge a sword that could be the best the world has ever seen.” She sighed as she shook her head, and laughed. Kaji sat down cross-legged, looking intently at the floor then cast her gaze to Miya.
“That is true, so why do you seek a sword from me. You hardly look fit for such a thing, do you even know how to wield a sword.” Kaji asked with question in her voice, as she looked went over in her mind trying to find a metal that would be light weighted for the girl. She cocked her head to the side smiling waiting for the girl to respond.

Miya stayed quiet for a moment, thinking. "I....don't know why I want a sword. I heard some villiagers speaking of your unbreakable swords, and something in me decided to bring me here. I don't know any other way to explain it...." she sighed. Even now, that something was lying in wait at the back of her mind, telling her she needed this. "I can use a sword. But I have chosen not to own one until now."
Until now, her sutras had been enough. When they were not, her Kazaana had done the job easily. But now....she wasn't sure either would work as well anymore. "I fear that my own weapons may not be enough to counteract this new evil that has risen....nor the old evil which has risen again...." she finished sadly, staring again at her cursed hand.

"Hm.. I see and what exactly is this new evil and old evil you speak of, I haven't exactly been out much really." She said with as sigh, leaning back a bit looking up at the ceiling of the cave. Well she had been out for some time, but she never really conversed with a few people. Mostly when she’s out it’s more of flirting with some hot guys or out doing work for her swords.
Kaji moved her hand onto the hilt of her sword Jakunen, the lonely spirit that resided in the sword was stubborn but helpful at times. She really weighed the facts if she should forge a sword for the girl or not.
“Tell me girl, give me a good reason why you want to wield one of my swords that I forge with my own hands.” She said with a sigh as she put her hands in front of her to put emphasis in with her own hands. Putting her hand down she waited for the answer.

The miko's eyes flew up to meet the face of the swordsmith. "Surely you have heard that Amoi is gathering more and more power? Surely you know that Naraku has revived?" At her own mention of Naraku, she clenched her right hand tightly. This was why she needed a new weapon, she knew now.
"I fear that no reason I could give will sway you....I fear that any reason I could come up with would be viewed as an excuse. I do not want unlimited power....I do not want fame, nor fortune." Miyako stated calmly. "I do not wish for revenge on those who have done me ill....I do not wish to hurt those who have done me no wrong. I cannot wish for these things...." she continued honestly. "I have seen what happens to those with such selfish wishes...." Finally, having said her piece, she unclenched her hand and let it join her other one across her lap.

Kaji caste her gaze to the floor, sighing as she closed her eyes. “I can tell you have a good heart, and will take good care of the sword I will forge for you,” with that she got up and turned her attention to the assortment of metals she had in her collection. Picking them up with one hand and looking it over before going to another one. Which one is sturdy but light. “That’s it,” Geniuses had stroke Kaji once again. Turning to Miyako she smile showing her fanged teeth. “If you want me to forge you a sword your going to have to get me some ingredients.”

Miya looked fairly surprised by Kaji's words. Did that mean she was going to have a sword? "What sort of ingredients?" she asked, standing. Miyako had no idea what sort of work went into forging a sword, and so was confused at the sword-maker's request. "I will bring you anything you request," she heard herself say, knowing it was true.

Closing her eyes and crossing her arms she thought over the ingredients. “Well I will be needing Holy Water, Silver dipped in Holy Water and kissed by a priest, the bones of a dragon, and some rice balls while your at it.” she said with a stern face. The others she needed for the sword and the rice balls were needed for her stomach. What did the girl expect her to forge a sword with an empty stomach. With that she made her way to her work bench getting it prepared for the forging of the sword.

Miyako blinked. Was all that really necessary? "I have holy water, and I am a priestess...." she muttered, thinking. "Bones of a dragon...that shouldn't be too hard....Silver will be a bit more difficult.....and the rice balls..." Miya groaned. To get rice balls, she'd have to climb all the way back down the volcano, make her way to the nearest town, buy the rice balls, and come back. She had spotted a dragon's skeleton halfway up the mountain...perhaps she could take a few bones on the way back up.
"Um....is there a way to get back down quickly? And back up?" she asked aloud, hoping she didn't sound too weak.
