Sumi is a mysterious and dark person who is simply misunderstood. She is reserved and likes keep to herself, afraid of hurting others. She has grown fond of dark colors, wanting to symbolize that she shouldn't be associated with, but the dark aura she have attracts more attention than she want; hence niiru. Sumi is hurt, I mean really hurt inside emotional, but she hides it; masking the pain with bright cheerful eyes and plastic smiles. At times she feel like she cant do anything right and also feel useless. But she's a love sick puppy though for her Niiru! She needs love, she thrives on love. Thats is why people are always around her; cause they feel special in her life. At times if she feels like she isn't loved, she sinks into her self and the darkness inside takes over making her push everyone away.

Sumi was born to a poor excuse of a mother, a timid pain demon and an even worser poor excuse of a father, a scared and frightful dog demon. On the day of her mother's birthing she gave birth to quadruplets; three was stillborn; two males and one female and one other female that lived. That female was Ai Natsumi, being part pain demon, she gain power and joy from people's pain and suffering. She had a knack for this when she project horrible images into the nearby minds of the people in the village at the age of 10. Her mother began to fear that her daughter might be powerful, consulting with dieing mother, she was told that Sumi was at a limit she couldn't be nothing like the ancient demons. That gave her mother relief as she continue to raise Sumi with caution. Sumi had many friends as a child even though she really didn't want to be bother with them, she loved the infants that was born in the village. At the age of 14 the village couldn't take the projection of horrible images, and called a demon slayer to get rid of her family. Her father packed them up and ran away to the mountains of bird demons. Crossing through bird demons attacked, her mother pleaded that she would do what every they want so they carrying her mother off and as for her father, he ran away for his dear life; leaving poor sumi alone hidden in a small cave. When night came she escape and made it to the nearest village where an old couple took her in. She stayed there until she became bored with the village, she wanted to explore the world. Saying far well to the old couple Sumi traveled and drifted from place to place until she met Nirru and feel in love, as people say the rest is history.
