History
Detailed Personal History: Life is never fair for those who deserve better. This statement is accurate for the young girl of 8 years. While roaming the mountains with her mother and father, Sakura's family were attacked by creatures of darkness. Their red eyes matching their blood stained claws. White teeth that glitted light from the partly setting sun. Within moments, the three shadow beast had ripped apart not only her brave father, who had tried to protect them, but also her frightend mother, who begged them to spare their child. Sakura, eyes filled with tears watched as the three monstered walked by her as if she were invisible. She had been left alive, but to what kind of life?
Her parents had been nothing more than your average farmers. They lived off the land and what was given from their harvest. Her mother, such a beautiful woman, and her father, a bright man. But nothing more. Neither of their descendants had been warriors, or even preists. They were regular people, who just happened to be at the wrong place, wrong time. Wrong place, wrong time, hearing this spoken by the villagers caused so much hatred for the orphan. Not towards the creatures that had slaughtered them, but towards herself. Sakura was the one that wanted to pick flowers that day. She had killed her family by bringing them there.
Taken in by the village physician, an old woman by the name of Gingi, the girl was at least not without a home. But she was, without friends. The old woman was an herbalist, and possibly one of the greatest healers in that part of the mountains. Though her age was far greater than anyone else in that town, she managed to play with the younger children almost as if she were one herself. It was thanks to her that Sakura was able to somewhat communicate with others.
The girl and the old woman, together for 7 years. Within that time, Gingi taught the small child everything she knew about herbal healing. Though she was never as great as her foster mother, Sakura soon became capable of being a physician herself. This surprised everyone. The child who had been quiet, was now a healer for the whole village. So long had it been since the girl had smiled, and now 15, you could see her smiling everyday. Still quiet to some, but happy. But like most things, this did not last.
Her age had finally caught up to her, Gingi was dying. Despite her best efforts, despite working herself close to collaspe, Sakura could not find a combination of herbs to help her mentor. Sitting by her side, the girl lowered her head in shame. She couldn't stand to watch her teacher, no, her mother, die this way. But, when she said this, she heard a dry laugh escape the woman's lips. Gingi stated that, death was nothing to be ashamed of. She had lived a long time, longer than some. But now it was her time to go. Placing her hand atop Sakura's, the elderly woman smiled at her, causing the sad child to smile as well. That would be the last conversation they had with one another.
Three days later, Sakura had packed her things into a small sack. After much thought, the girl had decided to leave the village she knew. Though her face shed no tears, nor shown any sign of sadness, deep inside her soul, she was hurting. This place was surrounded by death, she wished to get away, to find a way to prevent death. That was her dream, to stop the loss of people like her. To do what many feared, fight death itself. There had to be a way to do so.
So with Gingi's small sword at her waist, her woven traveling bag over her shoulder, the girl sent off on her journey. Sakura's quest to cure death had begun.
