"Thank you for the offer, but... my heart is not just weak. It is plagued by the illness that killed my mother. I have asked a dozen healers and priests, but all have said that there is no way to save myself." Yusuke smiled again. "I do not fear death. What I fear is leaving my sister alone. She already blames herself for our mother's death... I do not want her to blame herself for mine as well."

Yusuke blinked in confusion a few times. Not good? She had changed, but... he knew nothing of what her transformations were like. For all he knew horrible things could happen. "What...happens when she changes?" he asked quickly, suddenly nervous.

"she eats..." Mamoru large ears rotated a bit as she stepped out,"she kills and eats, eats and kills. she vomits and eats and kill some more." Shikyo's pelt is pure ebony, soft as raven feathers gleam in the light glow of the flame.

She had the omen of death in the black bands on her forehead and chest. Lines boldly connect to each other to create a black pentagram pattern. A lithe and slender form stalked out in a predator's walk growling and drool drop to the ground changing the grass sickly black. "Gluttonous beast!" Mamoru snarled at the beast as it eyes Yusuke, "Call for your sister now!"

Shikyo roared and charged toward Yusuke, Mamoru charged in shikyo's path; both body smashed into each other both wolves rose off of their front paws jaws and heads swing and collided making a sicken crack. Shikyo backed up on her back legs and smacked mamoru do the ground.

Mamoru grunted and blood spill from his mouth. Shikyo looked to Yusuke and stalked forward hissing and spitting; growling hungry burn in her eyes.

He knew he should run, but Yusuke could not seem to get his body to move. Besides, even if he did run he knew he wouldn't make it far before he was caught. He could always try and call his sister, but... than she might get hurt, or worse, as well. And that was something he couldn't allow.

He drew his sword hesitantly, knowing that he could not use it on her. Even though he knew that she was likely to attack him, he would not hurt her. And that wasn't even entirely because of his hatred for fighting. It was something else as well. "Please, calm yourself, Shikyo-san! Do not let this beast within you take control. You are stronger than that!" He knew his words would probably be meaningless, but he had to try anyway.

"damn it boy! she's not going to listen!" Shikyo stopped a brief moment groaning and shaking her head before stalking forward again. Mamoru jumped and dig his claws into her sides bitting deep into her neck.

Shikyo howled in pain and bucked like a wild horse, she jumped and twist mid way in the air shaking Mamoru off. Mamoru landed gracefully with a look of confusion, the beast shed tears, but still had eyes of hate and hungry.

"Yusuke! do it again! talk to her!" Shikyo roared and brought down her massive paws, Mamoru jumped back as it struck the ground. Mamoru breath in deep and shot an air attack from his maw, it rotated and slammed into her chest. It knocked her a couple of feet back, blood rain from her maw. "Shit I hit her too hard." Shikyo half snarl and half bark spreading blood; the blood shifted and moved.

Yusuke nodded, and resheathed his sword, taking a step toward her, a look of determination in his eyes. "Shikyo-san, stop this right now! You are a kind person, not this beast that seeks only death and blood. You must fight this! You can beat it as long as you try!"

He wasn't sure if his words would get through to her, but somehow they had seemed to before. So...perhaps if he kept trying he could reach her once more, and keep her from getting herself killed. "Shikyo-san... Shikyo, you must fight. Do not give up," he pleaded.

Shikyo head twisted toward Yusuke, glaring at him, tears shed down her face. "Yes that's it..." Mamoru whisper softly, Shikyo snapped at Mamoru and turned her gaze back to Yusuke, she twitch her neck popped, "I...can't!!!!" Shikyo roared out, a mixture of her voice and the demon.

Yusuke's words echoed in her head, she emit another roar the spilled blood shot toward Yusuke. "NO" Mamoru jumped taken the brute of the force, Mamoru whine and stood the best he could. "Keep trying please...one more.." Mamoru slump to the ground around yusuke's feet panting eyeing Shikyo.

"Shikyo...Yusuke please help her..." Shikyo roared again and clawed at the ground; she turned to the trees and charged one slamming into it head first, then another tree crashing her body against it. Mamoru stood, "Now its a battle between her and herself. Help her finish it!"

But what was he supposed to do? He didn't have the kind of power to get her to stop...did he? The only power he had was his words, and those only went so far. For the first time in his life Yusuke wished that he had actual physical powers--it would make stopping her so much easier.

He bit his lip as he tried to figure out what he could do. He could try to keep getting through to her, but... if she kept at what she was doing now, she would kill herself. Taking a deep breath Yusuke ran towards her, stumbling slightly when his foot caught in a snake hole. It didn't deter him though, because he kept going.

"Shikyo, do not let it get the better of you. You're so close to prevailing, you just need to seize control! You can do it!"

Shikyo slammed into more trees and roared, her face was covered and smeared with blood; bones were broken she could fell it, but the beast in her hid the pain. The blood ran over her eyes, but she could still see Yusuke. She emit a deep rumble of hate and charged to ward him. She stumbled herself and fell, she flip on her back and rolled along onto her sides.

"Yu..Yus..Yusuke..." Shikyo's wolven body stood, her black eyes where now a stormy grey. She limp toward him, bones snap and cracked as she changed back to herself; naked and covered in dirty and blood. She fell to her knees and hands reaching out to them both. "I'm sorry Mamoru...Yusuke..." Mamoru groaned as he with into a lob run catching up with Yusuke. "You did good, you should feel proud, you're not weak as you think you are.

My question is how could you get through to her?" Mamoru came to the side of Shikyo who laid panting and whimpering in pain. "It...it hurts..." Mamoru softly growled. "It's ok Yusuke and I are here." Mamoru bumped into yusuke urging him forward to shikyo.

Yusuke hurried toward her, ignoring the sharp pain in his chest. The pain he had was nothing, he was sure, to the pain that she must be in. He was amazed that she had actually managed to beat the beast that took her over when she changed. He doubted that there were many who would be able to do so without killing themselves in the process. It was purely amazing, he decided as he knelt next to her.

His eyes were sad as he surveyed her injuries. There was no way the meager supply of medicinal herbs he still had would be enough to help her. And... Oh, I wish Shizune was here! She would know what to do... Although he knew that wasn't actually true. His sister would have just ended up making things worse in the long run. She wasn't the most... caring of people.

"Shikyo..." Yusuke murmured, tentatively reaching out a hand towards her. He knew he should try and say something comforting, but he couldn't think of anything. At last he smiled softly, though he knew that he couldn't hide the sadness in his eyes. "Everything will be alright... you're going to be fine."

Mamoru licked shikyo tenderly, "oh shikyo I'll go get some help just hang on for me." Mamoru turn around and looked at yusuke, "keep her alive and keep her safe, I know what can help her." Mamoru runs off as shikyo slowly turned over her back slightly yelping in pain as she touched yusuke's hand while smiling painfully.

"ok then, yusuke...thank you," Shikyo looked from the side of her eyes seeing Mamoru leaving and then the fire. "Yusuke, help me to the fire please, I'm cold." Shikyo's body jumped with each painful breath as she whine.

"Please don't be sad for me yusuke." She stared into his eyes and kissed his hand that she touched. "It's isn't the first time this has happen." Shikyo coughed hard spitting up blood. "He hit me too hard with that attack."

Yusuke wondered exactly how he was supposed to do that. He wasn't a particularly strong person, and moving her didn't seem like a good idea in her position. Still, he couldn't refuse her. It was strange... he knew next to nothing about this half-demon girl, and yet... yet he was still drawn to her.

Smiling softly he extracted his hand from her grasp so that he could carefully move his arms under her and pick her up bridal style. He stood, amazed by how light she was. He carried her to the fire and sat down once more, but didn't put her down. He knew the fire was not enough to keep her warm, with all the blood she had lost. He had to keep her conscious until Mamoru returned.

"Shikyo... I want to know more about you," he said at length, deciding that the best way to keep her conscious was to keep her talking.

Shikyo whine at the pain, but held her breath as she felt the warmth of the fire and yusuke body. She sighed and relaxed in yusuke's arms."thank you." She settle her breathing to stop the pain that rack her lungs. She laughed some what," where to begin?" She shivered and pulled herself closer to Yusuke, "I was born to a demon mother and father who was mortal. My mother loved my father so when he beat her ,she would never fight back."

Shikyo's eyes started to tear up,"My mother was killed by a rogue demon so my father turned to drinking and gambling. he dislocated my left leg in a argument." She looked up to Yusuke and study his face, "Then sold me to slavery when gambling debts built up they still killed him though."

She thought carefully if she should tell her life story to someone she barely met, yet felt an odd attraction to the human; she continued,"Good thing for me the demon found me too beautiful to mess up my "perfect little body". Parade me around when every he could and kept me in a cage and I entertain him with song."

She smiled as she looked to the side seeing Mamoru trotting back slowly"That how I met Mamoru, a guard of my former master. he saved me." Mamoru looked to shikyo in yusuke's arms, he chuckled, "Looks like half my work is done, yusuke here." Mamoru place a bag next to him filled with herbs, blanket, and other needful supplies. "everything you need to help her, grin the herbs into a paste and rub her down with it."

Yusuke had stayed silent while she told her story to him. At some points he had to clench his jaw to restrain himself from doing anything he would regret later. He also held her closer when she said she was sold to slavery. Her story reminded him sort of what happened to his twin, until she had begun to talk about that.

When Mamoru returned he finally spoke as he pulled himself away from her, laying her carefully down on the ground. "I'm sorry..." he murmured, eyes downcast. "That... that never should have happened to you. You shouldn't have had to go through that."

Moving his attention to the bag of herbs, he gulped slightly. He had only ever touched his twin's body when she was unable to rub herbs on herself, and even then, there wasn't nearly this much work that needed doing. Kami forgive me for sinning, he thought as he took out a small mortal and pestle. He sighed as he looked between it and the herbs. he wished he had a bigger one, but alas he couldn't carry a larger on his person at all times.

It was then that Shizune finally returned, not looking particularly surprised to see Shikyo with severe injuries, or Yusuke covered in her blood. She carried a few bundles under her arms, and set them down near the fire. Opening one she placed a much larger mortal and pestle before her brother. "Here. I thought you might be needing one of these, so I borrowed it off of a villager who lived near the river."

"But how...." Yusuke frowned. How did she know that he would need one? As he began to work he frowned again and looked up at her. "Borrowed? Sister, I do believe that whenever you say that, you really mean stealing."

Shizune shrugged. "Yes, but in this case I really did borrow it. I even borrowed it with her permission." She then pulled open one of the other two remaining packages. "It was easy enough to decide you would need them. I saw immediately that the wolf girl was a half-breed. I guessed she might transform herself tonight, and well... I knew you were foolish enough to do something rash, ultimately resulting in someone being severely injured." She placed some unwrapped clothing and blankets on her lap. "I thought you'd need these as well."

Yusuke smiled faintly. "Thank you, sister..." He finished a moment later, amazed that he had managed to do so so quickly. Now he only had to worry about... He gulped again and felt his face flush. He shifted around again so he faced Shikyo once more. Smiling to her he said, "Alright, are you in too much pain? I need to get you onto the blanket Shizune just laid out, but if your body hurts too much I can manage without it."

Shikyo stayed silent, wheezing slightly; She was too tried to talk anymore and her lungs burned in pain. She felt yusuke drew her in more, making her want to laugh.

Shikyo almost whine when she no longer felt his body close to her body anymore, but she suppress the whine and laid perfectly still. She looked to him and smiled touching his face gently. "What is there to be sorry for? Everything in life, happens for a reason or maybe not, I don't know."

Shikyo watched as yusuke seem nervous as he worked with the herbs. She sniffed the air and grin, "Welcome back Shizune," She shook her head slightly, "very bad for stealing I want those to be returned back to the villager."

Shikyo smiled at the compassion between yusuke for the love of his sister, Shizune. "Thank you Shizune, for everything." Shikyo had to stop and replay what she had said before to yusuke, her blood boiled at the thought. She answered yusuke first, "I doesn't matter yusuke." She picked herself despite the pain and laid back down on thee blanket.

Then Shikyo stared at shizune with a look of somewhat angry expression, "If you knew I was half-breed and as you said "guessed" that I would change why would you leave him here in harms way?!" He eyes shifted a black onyx again, "foolish and rash he was not, he tried to save me, I done this to myself!" Dark lines ran over her face, her fangs and nails sharpen. "say something else about him and I'll show you what this beast can do!"

Shikyo lift her hand ready to rack down onto Shizune's face, Mamoru stepped and touched a pressure point on her body that caused her to blackout and go limp, flopping back to the ground. Mamoru nodded to yusuke, "Best get to work, it only last for a few second, but by then she will be herself." Mamoru laid back down with a grin, "You have quite an effect on her, that's good."

Yusuke nodded and shifted her body to the blanket with only moderate difficulty. As he began to apply the herbs to her wounds he looked up at his twin, who was sitting a few feet away. "Shizun-chan... I understand why you left, but... could you not have warned me first?"

Shizune shook her head, a dark look on her face. "No, I couldn't. Yusu, you know I get those visions, and... well, I wasn't worried. The one I got of your death wasn't by her hands, so... there was no need for me to warn you."

"But..." Yusuke sighed. "I suppose that makes sense, but all the same... No, I won't go into this... I may not understand your reasons, Shi, but I will not disagree with what you did." He smiled tiredly. "In a way I am grateful to you."

"Yusuke... are you alright?" Shizune asked, a worried expression on her face. "You sound tired."

He nodded. "Oh, I'm fine. Do not worry about me." He grinned. "As you said, you did not predict my death tonight, so no need to worry. And, I am just about... done." He blushed slightly as he finished rubbing the herbs into a particular bad wound on Shikyo's chest.

Shizune nodded, and took another of the blankets from the pile. She tossed it to her brother, and he gently laid it over Shikyo.
