Daijiro sat on the rocky out carving of a slope, surveying the land below him.
This was the Ox Demon territory, home to his people for as long as any of them could remember. Lately though, it seemed as if their numbers were on the decline. He didn't recall the herd being so small in past years, but his memory wasn't perfect. Maybe he was just being paranoid.
He had good reason to be paranoid though. New evils had arisen in the land, and allegiances were shifting. It was only a matter of time before one of the villains came looking for support among the twelve tribes. And that would most likely mean war-- the one thing Daijiro hated most and wanted to avoid. For a demon, he was one of the more peaceful ones. Attacking humans didn't interest him, nor did attacking and conquering other demons. All he wanted was for his herd to be safe.
The sun was setting now, turning the sky a vibrant blood red. Grey eyes watched in worry, seeing it as a foreshadowing of what was to come.

Along a path that winded up the rocky pass trotted along what appeared to be a cavlecade of rat demon solders, their jet black, finely made armor glisining in the red light. Riding on horseback in the center of the group was Shiguri, his brown hail billowing in the slight moutain air. He had a rather annoyed look as his brown horse clip-clopped along the rocky trail, Shiguri was not one who likes wandering in nature, and preferred the underground, stone city which he ruled. He placed his arm inf ront of his eyes to block the incoming sunlight when he noticed a rather large demon standing on a outcrop along the trail. He knew he was in a frendly territory, as the ox demons had been long time allies of the rat demons, however, he still could not help but e weary. This guy looks quite powerful and despite my tricks, I don't want to get into a battle right away. After all, getting into a fight with an demon of an ally tribe may ruin my good reputation, and I DON'T want that to happen. It would be best to do as I usually do, and be nice to him, after all, since he is from an ally tribe, I may be able to get some "favors" out of the big lug. Shiguri thought to himself as his group of lackies came closer to the ox demon general.
The general was still obscured by distance and light, however, he began to make out his form, and was able to identify the being as the strong and powerful general of the ox demons. Shiguri imeadtly after realizing this fact brought the horse to a halt and had a slightly sly grin on his face. Heh, this should be interesting, I was not expecting to meet my ally general on a simple mission like this. I could get alot from this guy, as so far as demons go, Ox demons tend to be lacking in the intellect department. So, lets see just how much I can "extract" from my good friend here, shall we. Shiguri thought to himself as he dismounted from his horse. " Hello there, I could not help but notice the general of the ox demons standing alone out here and not make myself known to him. Don't worry, I am not an enemy, on the contrary I am a general from a clan that is an ally of yours." Shiguri said to the Ox, his friendly tone masking his selfish desires.

The faint sound of pattering feet rang off in the distance. The cool mountain breeze was blowing a new scent into the area. Nezumi....
The rat and ox tribes had long been allies, and Daijiro had hoped to keep it that way. He always thought that they prefered to stay in their own nests anyway, underground. In fact, it had been a long while since he had seen any sign of the rats or their general. But a great many of them seemed to be coming this way now, and, allies or not, entering another's territory with an army was just asking for trouble.
What do they think they're doing here?
He chose to remain as he was, facing the sunset rather than turning to meet the new arrival. Squinting his eyes to the gare of the setting sun, he tensed, listening intently for the sounds of movement as they came closer.
As they closed the distance, he became aware of the sound of hooves. Must be pretty important if he's riding a horse. The stranger dismounted. Daijiro turned around to face him. He stood silently, arms folded and eyes narrowed at the rat. So they weren't here to attack. Okay, still didn't explain why they were here in the first place. He grunted. "I know who you are. Still didn't explain why you're here."

Shiguri was slightly shocked by the Demon's reaction, as most only heard stories of the Nezumi and never actually saw their general, as just as the Ox demon general had noted in his mind, they as well as Shiguri do for the most part stay within their nests. However, this time was different, the Rats where coming on a rather "important" mission. The attacks on other villages had begun to make the Nezumi worried about their own safety, and although the tunnles and caticombs that keep their city "impossible" to reach to outsiders had kept them safe for a long time, they worries that these new evils would find a way to get around this "wall." Also, Shiguri has long desired to expand his influence among the tribes, and had decided that the best way he could do that was with an "alliance," that would also serve as a way to protect his clan. The Ox demons, although stubborn and generally ill tempered, where quite lacking in the intelligence department, so Shiguri figured that they would be the best place to start on this endeavor.
" Ah, so you know who I am. Well, my purpose for coming is an important one. You know of what has happened in some of the other demon tribal lands, do you not?" Shiguri said.

"It depends on what you need to know." True, he knew a bit of what went on in the neighboring tribes, but he didn't cornern himself much with that sort of thing. If it didn't involve the Ox demon tribe, it didn't intrest him. It also wasn't in his nature to be trusting of outsiders. Though the ribes of ox and rat had no current conflict with eachother, he wasn't just going to let hordes of them into his lands if they were just trying to gather information.
"I'm assuming your not just looking for information if you brought this lot with you." he glanced out over the sea of rats, all in armor. They looked battle ready, and Daijiro had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. Something was up here, and it didn't seem like it was going to end well.
